Kit Kat Caramel Blondies

Kit Kat Caramel Blondies | Sarcastic Cooking

So, maybe this recipe would have been more appropriate around Halloween. But, since I normally boycott all things related to Halloween, this amazing recipe got pushed to the side and I kinda forgot about it. Sorry, my beautiful blonde friend.

This past Halloween, I was super pumped to hand the candy out to the kids since I was pregnant and all. I kept imagining taking my own little guy trick or treating one day. I pray that he never chooses a scary bloody costume; I am not a fan of those kids.

I asked Mike what candy he wanted to give out just to make sure it was something he liked in case we had any candy leftover. Mike picked Sour Patch Kids, his favorite. I went for Kit Kats.

I looooove Kit Kats. It was always the one chocolate candy, aside from Snickers, that I was always happy to get in my NKOTB pillowcase back in my trick or treating days.

Little did I know that today’s youth is not so fond of Kit Kats. Every single time a kid reached their hand into our candy bowl they picked out a Sour Patch Kid. WTF!?!?! Mike was so proud of his pick.

“I picked the cool candy!” He said, in a sing-songy voice.

Jerk.

Kit Kat Caramel Blondies | Sarcastic Cooking

Needless to say, I was left with a lot of leftover Kit Kats. And what would any normal person think to do with them besides snack on at least one per day? Bake them into blondies along with some chewy caramel chunks, of course!

Kit Kat Caramel Blondies

Turn that extra candy into gooey caramel and candy studded blondies.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 25 minutes
Total Time 35 minutes
Servings 12 -16 Bars

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter at room temperature
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups chopped Kit Kat Bars divided
  • 15 caramel squares unwrapped and quartered

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9” x 13” baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Add butter and brown sugar to the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Cream the butter and sugar together on medium speed. Scrape down the sides.
  3. Add one egg at a time and beat until incorporated. Scrape down the sides and add in the vanilla. Mix on medium until combined.
  4. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the baking powder, salt, and flour. Add the mixture to the wet ingredients in the bowl all at once. Mix until just about combined and you can still see some flour.
  5. Add in half of the Kit Kat bars along with the caramel and mix until you cannot see any flour.
  6. Press the dough into the prepared pan in one even layer. Press the remaining Kit Kats into the top of the batter. Bake blondies for about 25 minutes until just golden on the edges. Remove from the oven and allow bars to completely cool in the pan before cutting into bars.

Reading through the instructions and I’m not seeing where the caramels are added in! I swear I read it like 5x – am I missing it?

Oh shoot! Sorry! You add the caramels in when you add the first half of the chopped Kit Kats.

Considering Kit-Kats are actually my least favorite candy, it’s a true feat to say that’d I’d actually want to eat a whole pan of these. They look delicious and fun to make. Thank for the share

I would have picked the kit kats! I made similar blondies over the summer but mine didn’t have caramel in them making yours so much better.

I’m a Reese’s girl myself, and I’m always so perplexed by people who choose sour gummy candies over chocolate. Those kids don’t know what they’re missing! These look so chewy and delicious!

I always think people that pick the sour gummy things are more likely to get cavities. Haha!
