Summer Wedge Salad with Charred Corn and Blue-Cheese Avocado Dressing | Sarcastic Cooking

Summer is all about adventures. My five year old niece told me a few weeks ago, “It’s summer, Aunt Stefanie. You should come over any day because, like, every day we are going on so many adventures.” This mentality works out perfectly in our house because I have two antsy pants’ who cannot sit still. I am clearly talking about Mike and Andy. Weezer is my soul mate because we could sit on the couch all day…clearly it is not him!

Every morning Mike asks me, “So what are we doing today?” And every morning I roll my eyes and try to rack my brain for something to do. [Read more…]

I hope everybody, whether you be a dad, uncle, or even the father/owner of a little furbaby, had a fantastic Father’s Day. Did you do the typical dad-tivity and grill? We did. Something I learned from my years of vegetarianism, aside from the fact that I love a good beefy burger, was that good bread can make or break a sandwich. When all your toppings consist of vegetables, you really need that good bread with a crunchy crisp crust and soft fluffy interior to pull the whole thing together.

There is nothing worse than compiling or ordering all your favorite fillings inside a sandwich and then the bread falls apart. What?!?! Ugh, might as well have ordered a salad. [Read more…]

#BrunchWeek: Fresh Mint and Orange Blossom Fruit Salad

Fresh Mint and Orange Blossom Fruit Salad #BrunchWeek | Sarcastic Cooking I remember planning dinner parties and brunches in my twenties. It all centered around booze and fancy apps. I would look in this book I have called The Wine Bible and try and pair wines with tapas. For a small group of 10 friends I debearded and cooked mussels, roasted potatoes, made garlic bread, and created a whole meat and cheese platter. That was for just one dinner. Why did I go through all that? Plus ol’ party planner McGee didn’t count on the fact that everybody would only get 1-2 mussels. Dummy. [Read more…]
