Last time we spoke, I kind of left things up in the air about the whole apple-picking outing. Well, I am here to say that we went! You guys are smart though, and probably figured that out for yourselves based on the title of this recipe. Mike begrudgingly went apple picking! He, as usual, would like it known for the record, that he still hates fall.
Oh my gosh, and let me tell you, it went swimmingly. The sun was shining, yet it was still a nice crisp fall day. The breeze was just enough to rattle the leaves in the apple trees. Andy listened to me and Mike and even picked some apples from the trees. He posed for pictures in the orchard while munching on an apple. It was the perfect day.

First thing’s first, lemme just say that this might be my only pumpkin recipe of this fall season. For some of you, that is great news. For you fall enthusiasts, I apologize that I am not more into the pumpkin spice craze. So, go get your pumpkin spice fill elsewhere! Just kidding, come back! I need you. Ah, summer! Can you feel it? It is close. Pretty soon schools will be out of session and the creepy bells of the ice cream truck will echo along the streets of the neighborhood. Yeah, I said creepy. There is something eerie and haunting about that chimey song.
Growing up, we lived on a dead end street. There were two other houses with kids roughly me and my brothers’ age on the block. We didn’t get a lot of action from the neighborhood ice cream trucks. Whenever I bake cookies at home, I always sing the song, “It’s Cookie Time” from Troop Beverly Hills. It is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is right up there with Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter is Dead and High Fidelity. Yeah, I know, I like good and varied movies.
The first time I saw Troop Beverly Hills I was at a sleepover birthday party. We literally all stood up on top of our sleeping bags and did the Freddy along with Shelley Long.
