Remember back around two Christmases ago?

We opted to make tamales, pozole, and all the kinds of tacos instead of our standard Christmas-fare.

It was the best decision ever.

One thing that was missing was margaritas.

I left them off the menu for several reasons.

Firstly, because sometimes me and tequila do not mix.

I get a little crazy if I have one too many margaritas.

Secondly, on a cold winter day, the last thing I want is an ice cold margarita.

Now though, since summer is sort of right around the corner, give me all the homemade margaritas.

Store-bought mixes have a lot of additives and things that make you go, “Huh?”

Making your own homemade lime margarita mix could not be easier!

It is literally the juice of like 7-10 limes, depending on how juicy they are.

Mix it with a cup and a half of water and a half cup of sugar.

Bring it to a slow simmer over medium/low heat on the stove.

Once the sugar dissolves, it is ready!

You can make this ahead of time and keep in the fridge for 5 days.

Don’t want to use granulated sugar?

Substitute in either a half cup of agave or honey.

I find that mix ends up sweeter, so you might have to add more water to balance it out.

That is the great thing about this recipe.

You can control what goes into it!

Homemade Classic Margaritas | sarcastic Cooking

Make it less sweet or more tart depending on your personal taste preferences.

I also find that suing my friend Ashleigh’s InBooze kits for the tequila also really make for a smooth cocktail.

I love her spicy margarita and her classic margarita kit too!

Keep a look out for when the prickly pear is available because that kit is THE BOMB!

If you are coming over to my house for a deck hang this summer, the chances of me having this easy mix on hand are very, very likely!

Cheers to the drink of the summer!
