Now that my blog has turned five, it kind of got me thinking of how old I was when I started this old thing. 27… Oh boy. So young. I started to think about differences between my young, 20-something self and my young 30-something self. Ugh… I feel tired already. Especially since last night a certain terrible (but not so terrible, really) two-year-old wanted to party from 2 am on. First and foremost, let me apologize to those of you Lenten warriors who are braving the whole “no meat on Fridays” thing. I really had intended on sharing this recipe yesterday, but life kinda got in the way. We went to go see houses with kids in tow. Three surround sound meltdowns in the minivan in between houses kind of wiped me out. Once the boys were in bed, so was mommy. And no post was to be written. Once again, my apologies.

Well. It is confession time people. I know most of you have just moved on from Halloween and have maybe started planning your Thanksgiving dinner menu. I have given a teeny thought to Thanksgiving. I mean enough thought to make this warm salad and plan a giveaway for you guys. I also might bring a dessert to my in-laws dinner. My normal go-to is this cheesecake pie. I swear to the Lord, I am so done with summer. I got my fruit fill. I kind of got my heirloom tomato fill. (See last week’s post for the story behind that). I am ready for a gradual decline into the seventies, sixties, and then (Gasp) the fifties. I am ready for layers and not sweating my pregnant belly off every single time I step outside.
I will probably live to regret this statement once I am trapped indoors with ten inches of snow on the ground, a newborn, a two year old, and a dog staring at me wondering what we are going to do next. Until then, I shall rant on. [Read more…]
