What I'm Digging - Sarcastic cooking

  1. Kids being back in school. This definitely frees up the amount of people my anti-social self has to run into at the library, park, Target, or Starbucks. It is sad but those are the places we go on the reg. Plus that means fall (gasp) is right around the corner! I just want to wear jeans people! These thighs have had enough sun exposure for one year.
  2. Things in jars. I have my chick peas soaking right now so that I can make this instant hummus. I also have returned to an old favorite from Take A Megabite for quick lunches. Salads in jars, it is still a thing right? Or has everybody moved on to kombucha now?
  3. Slaw. I ate this Asian Chicken Slaw four days in a row and I didn’t even care.
  4. Yogurt pouches. I am not really digging them as much as Jack though. I did suck one of the Stonyfield Strawberry-Beet-Berry flavored pouches down when I was sick last week and man oh man was it good. Not sponsored or paid to say that; it is totally unsolicited.
  5. Meatballs/Fried Chicken. It’s a tie for number five. I really am craving some big ass meatballs. Or mini ones. I have done cheese filled before, but I am thinking I am going to experiment with some burrata. Also, ever since I saw these southern chicken sandwiches, I want fried chicken. I have made fried chicken before but part of me just wants to go down and dirty and buy KFC. I shouldn’t, right? Uh but those potato wedges!! So good. Hm, things to ponder about until next week!
  6. Avocados. I have been making this guac every week. I have also been on the hunt for perfect avocados. Meijer, meh. Jewel, meh. Whole Foods, eeehh, ok but expensive. I have been having the best luck with the bag of non-organic avocados from Trader Joe’s. TJ’s is kinda far from my house so if I can find better ones closer you better believe I will! I want to make these BLT Stuffed Avocados and Avocado, Bacon, and Egg Toast this weekend!
  7. Lasagna. I know it might be more of a fall dish, but I have my eye on this crockpot version.
  8. Fall Clothes. Just because it is still like 80 degrees outside, doesn’t mean I can’t dream about this bomber jacket and this sweatshirt.
  9. Bold Brows. Yeah, I do DO my makeup sometimes. I usually only do a quick BB cream, mascara, and then some brow action. I am a big fan of Anastasia Brow Duo. Big shout out to Cindy for this find! I am carving out some time to try and follow this tutorial on the perfect bold brows. (Sorry guys if this was a lil too girly for ya).
  10. Snacks. Andy goes through phases of being the snack king. He will seriously just snack all day long. Cheetos, Pirate’s Booty, Grapes, Annie’s Bunnies, Strawberries, Fruit Snacks, etc. I decided this weekend, I am going to make some Mommy snacks. I think this rose wine granita would be an appropriate snack choice for me. I think it would also pair nicely with this Sriracha Chex Mix. Yeah, I’m fancy!
