Salted Caramel Chai Latte

Spiked salted caramel chai latte is going to be your new boozy, cozy nightcap. The warm cocktail is made using Sōmrus Chai Cream Liqueur, black tea, sweet salted caramel, and topped off with a little bit of steamed milk. The Chai spices mixed with the sweet salted caramel are perfect for a crisp fall night.

This summer I rocked out some Mango cocktails for Sōmrus. I am back with a few fall themed cocktails to spice up your nights. We are starting with this spiked salted caramel chai latte. Chai tea lattes are such a soul-warming combination of spices. You can find them and drink them year round.

Salted caramel however, is a bit more seasonal in my opinion. It gets me thinking of apples, cider, apple pie, crisp nights, and crunchy leaves. The sound of crunching leaves, not salted caramel covered leaves. You get what I am saying. It makes me think of fall.

In this cocktail, we start with a base of a basic black tea. The drink gets sweetened from the Sōmrus Chai Cream Liqueur and the salted caramel. I really like to add a little bit of salted caramel to the inside edge of the glass before pouring in the tea and top the drink with a little extra salted caramel. 

Sōmrus Chai Cream Liqueur boasts notes of cinnamon, pepper, star anise, cloves, and cardamom. The rum based cream liqueur has cozy written all over it.

Add some steamed milk to make it a true latte. That froth, oh, it’s perfect to hold more salted caramel sauce. You can make your own salted caramel; it’s really easy. If you don’t want to do the whole homemade caramel thing, buy some salted caramel sauce from your local grocery store.

Salted Caramel Chai Latte

Creamy liqueur chai spiked latte with sweetened salted caramel is the perfect fall nightcap.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp salted caramel sauce
  • 8 oz Black Tea, warm
  • 1.5 oz Sōmrus Chai Cream Liqueur
  • 2 oz Warm Steamed Milk

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk in a small saucepan for about 3 minutes over a medium flame. Reduce the heat to low and use either a milk frother or an immersion blender to whip the milk until a good foam appears on top. Remove from heat.
  2. Add a little of the salted caramel to the inside of a rocks glass. Add Chai Liqueur and tea. Mix to combine.
  3. Top with steamed, frothy milk, and a drizzle of salted caramel.
  4. Serve warm.
