A complete round up of food to make for a Valentine’s Day meal or party. Entrees, sides, and desserts for an at home celebration of love.
After ten plus years of blogging, I figured it might be time to do an official Valentine’s Day or Galentine’s Day post. Therte are so many ways to show people you love them. My love language is cooking you a special meal or treat.
This year with a pre-teen, ten-year-old, a loving husband, and crazy middle aged pug in the house, I have to cater to a lot of different tastes.
Both kids asked for my brown butter chocolate chip cookies. That’s an easy ask because they are the very same cookies that I are stocked within the household cookie jar.
My husband is super easy to please. If it were up to him, he would ask for his favorite food: boxed mac and cheese with cut up hot dogs and some jarred salsa or hot sauce on top. Like I said, he is a simple man.
I cannot allow that level of simpleness for my favorite Hallmark holiday.
This year I am making steaks, some sort of potato, and a vegetable on the side.
It’s an easy meal when you lay it out like that, however, like I said earlier, we have to cater to many different tastes.
My youngest doesn’t eat steak. He will eat the potato menu item. BUT! He will not eat a baked potato which is what the adults are having on the side of their steaks. So crinkle cut fries it is!
My oldest will eat the steak and the fries. Now we are talking.
Will the kids eat the green beans, asparagus, or spinach?
HA! No way.
Potatoes offer so much nutritious value though, so it’s all good.
In the past I have made lobster mac and cheese or homemade pizzas with pepperoni cut into hearts. The pizza is always a huge hit with all family members.
Let’s be honest, there have been many years when all that makes my heart sing is some Taco Bell. I know you feel me on that too.
Who wants to go out and deal with crowds, overpriced menu specials, and vying for reservations after all?
Below, you will see a little list of what I have cooked in the past or what I think would be a great meal on your Valentine’s Day. It’s a great day to love love and care for the people who mean the most.
